Nicholas is 13 years old and has been fly fishing for three years. He has cast for trout in Washington, Idaho, and North Carolina, and he also pursues salmon and steelhead in the coastal rivers and Puget Sound. He has even accompanied former Orvis Bellevue fishing manager Leland Miyawaki on a trip to catch sea-run cutthroats.
