Saturday’s edition of The Wichita Eagle featured an excellent profile of fly-fishing guide Carolyn Parker—”angling entrepreneur, innovator, barrier breaker and educator”—who plies her trade on Missouri’s Lake Taneycomo. Parker and her husband, Stan, own River Run Outfitters (the 2006 Orvis-Endorsed Outfitter of the Year) in Branson, which they opened in 1999.

A lifelong angler, Parker started fly fishing in the mid-1960s:

Now, she’s among the more respected guides in the area.
