Editor’s note: I was recently talking to some anglers about fly fishing for mako sharks, and they were incredulous that such a thing was possible. I called up this 10-year-old video on my phone, and they were blown away by this huge fish’s acrobatic leaps. So here it is for the rest of you who may have never seen it.
According to the description of this video, this angler hooks a mako shark estimated at 10 feet and 800 pounds. The fact that they offer an estimate suggests that he didn’t land the fish, but when you see what happens when the fish is hooked, you’ll understand why his disappointment might be somewhat tempered. This was one incredible ride. WARNING: Some NSFW language here. (Understandable under the circumstances, I would argue.)
