The sporting community spends a lot time thinking about ways to get the next generation involved, and fly fishers are no exception. Although we have seen a pretty good youth movement in recent years–as evidenced by the many young faces in our weekly Friday Film Festival–getting kids to put down their phones, computers, and videos games in favor of fly rods can be a real challenge.
The folks at The High Lonesome Ranch, in western Colorado, are offering one kind of solution. From March 1 through May 31, they’re offering a Generations Spring Fishing deal. Any adult can bring a family member between the ages of 9 and 16–a child, grandchild, niece, or nephew–for free. The four-night, three-day adventure is a great opportunity to enjoy time outdoors and to pass on traditions, important lessons, and the pride gained while fishing together.
