Enter to Win a Pair of the New Silver Sonic Guide Waders!

The success of the Silver Sonic Wader family—the Convertible-Top, Women’s, and Zippered models—over the past year or so has been remarkable. But we saved the pièce de résistance for last.

For 2014, Orvis introduces the Silver Sonic Guide Waders, which offer even more features and increased durability. These waders are for the angler who spends long days on the water and demands top-of-the-line performance and comfort. They can take a beating, whether you’re bushwhacking to get to your secret hole or scrambling over rocks to chase a fish running downstream. Plus, there’s a place for all your tools and personal items, and zippered handwarmer pockets.

Here are just some of the features on these best-in-class waders:

  • Fabric is up to 300% more abrasion resistant and 40% more puncture resistant than Silver Sonic Convertible-Top waders
  • Lower features a high-density 4-layer breathable nylon, while the upper is the same 4-layer nylon used in the Silver Sonic Convertible-Top lowers
  • Kangaroo-style handwarmer pocket with YKK water-resistant zippers
  • External storage pocket with tool dock
  • Y-style padded yoke suspenders
  • Flip out interior pocket and removable waterproof pocket
  • Attached self-fabric, reinforced gravel guards with quick-drain panel
  • Anatomically correct, sculpted neoprene booties
  • Strategically placed lower leg seams run up the back of the wader
  • Easy adjusting wading belt
  • Expanded sizes, now including extra long

The first pre-ordered Guide Waders will be shipping next week, and to celebrate, we’re giving a pair away.  Enter the contest by using the cool widget below, which allows you to earn two entries and increase your chances of winning.

The winner will be announced next Friday, January 10.

  1. I’m with Andrew…I am not and will not be on Facebook and I do not Tweet….so how can I enter for a chance….they sure would look sweet with the new Helios 2 I ordered from a local dealer….my cronies would be so envious that they might cough up real money for a pair 1

  2. I forgive Santa for missing me out this year, so these would make up for his error, please please please Santa Orvis.

  3. Would love these waders! I’ve fished the last 2 springs both in leaky waders…. it was pretty cold in eastern Canada! Fingers crossed!

  4. I don’t see a widget but there is a link and that link takes me to the rafflecopter website. They want me to sign in to their website. Did I click on it wrong? Lol

  5. I’m beginning to not like these types of contests (and Orvis is far from the only one who does this type of giveaway). But logging in through facebook gives them access to your Facebook profile, e-mail and friend list. I don’t care about my e-mail and basic info. I’m happy to volunteer some info help Orvis or any dealer who’s products I enjoy better understand their customer base. I hate that my friends are gonna get suggested pages, or other clutter in their FB as a result. I know if it wasn’t Orvis it would be someone else taking up the space, still rubs me the wrong way.

  6. I spend a lot of hours and days on the Upper Connecticut River in New Hampshire. These waders would certainly come in handy and from your description they are just what I need. Brush, high grass and tree branches prevent an easy access to the river. High quality waders are a must and after reading your description durability is certainly a plus. If I don’t win I may just buy a pair anyways. The quality of your products never cease to amaze me. Thank you.

  7. I’ve been pleased with earlier versions, but in winter sock I’ve found the booties narrow, which chilled the toes. Orvis is one of the few companies to acknowledge wide feet in its (oddly named) Ultralight wading boots, but I’m curious about the assumptions regarding foot widths in designing waders.

  8. I don’t Facebook or tweet either. I would love the chance to win the waders and hope Orvis will not hold my non-use of social media against me.

  9. I abhor social media sites. I don’t have nor want a Facebook or Twitter account. I wish I could enter with out one.

  10. Facebook is not happy with ORVIS…:see the notice that appeared when I tried to “SHARE”

And folks tell me I’M the Luddite!

  11. Please give these waders to someone who really could use them, after 65 years of fly fishing and many happy days on the flats and streams, I have everything!!!!

  12. I have a set of the boot foot felt soled waders that when I retire from Military civil service in 2 years I will need to replace to be legal almost anywhere anymore Couldn’t think of any other product that would be the best replacement Will be fishing almost full time somewhere then with the lil lady of course must replace hers also. Fish On Folks!

  13. These are FINE waders and Someone will be very lucky to get them! If it’s not me, I hope it’s you!

  14. OK. I think I messed up my first couple of tweets. Got it right now. Hope my first two count if they get drawn. I would love those waders.

  15. I don’t need new waders, but I’m the faculty advisor for a high school fly fishing club with lots of students who would be thrilled to have waders.

  16. I just received the Orvis fly fishing catalog and I am incredibly disappointed and shocked (although not surprised) that Orvis and the energetic Jim Lampros have elected to showcase their Silver Sonic waders with a front cover picture of Lampros committing one of the most ignorant and unpardonable sins of any sportsperson i.e. STANDING ON THE WIRE STRAND OF A WIRE FENCE!!! The caption claims that Lampros had permission, but the manner in which he is exercising that permission is what destroys ranchers’ fences and why they think all sportsmen are complete idiots with complete disregard for the property of others and why it is so difficult for sportsmen to gain access across fenced ranch land to many of our rivers. Really Jim, go gently between the wires and if Orvis’s waders are in fact so tough, tearing them while doing so should not be a concern. To all real sportsmen out there, don’t stand on the fence when crossing it!!!! I grew up working on a ranch and what what Lampros is so proudly pictured doing is destroying personal property and setting back sportsmen/landowner relationships by decades.

  18. I’m disappointed with all the waders I’ve ever owned, not breathable, uncomfortable, leaking, etc. I do a lot of flyfishing and really need a good quality pair.
