I’m writing this from Kobarid, Slovenia, where my buddy Sandy Hays and I arrived today to fish with Matt Calderaro of Worldflyangler. Matt is an old friend who used to be a rod-and-reel product designer at Orvis—the Superfine Touch and Access rod lines were his babies—but now he has a fly shop and outfitting business in Slovenia. We’ve been talking about this trip for a couple years now, and I can’t believe I’m finally here.
