Welcome the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we feature the best videos from around the world. This week, we have a baker’s dozen productions from the first week of 2016, and they include some great cinematography and stunning fish. From Alaska to New Zealand, and from Florida to Norway, these video capture a wide array of angling experiences.
For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.
And don’t forget to check out the awesome all-new, improved Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are more than 1,000 great videos on the site!
See you next week with a fresh set of films!
New Zealand really is the place where fly-fishing dreams are made. Here’s a killer video of highlights from an Italian angler, Alberto Galeazzo.
I used to guide on Alaska’s Copper River, so I loved seeing this latest short from Fly Out TV, featuring lots of sockeyes and beautiful rainbows.
High water does not necessarily mean bad fishing, as these anglers from Pennsylvania demonstrate.
For six months, Norwegian fly fisherman Vebjoern Kielland lived in a primitive hut on pillars out to sea in Belize. This is his incredible story.
Watching line peel off your reel as a salmon or steelhead goes on a blistering run is a great angling experience. There are tons of amazing fish in this video from Salmon Junkies.
The South Fork of the Snake and its cutthroat trout really shine in this beautiful video from Mark Lisk about a great float trip.
The Idrijca River in Slovenia is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever fished, and you’ll see why in this short video.
What’s the best part of catching a gorgeous fish? Watching it swim away!
The crews from Le Mouching and This Is Fly head to Mexico to chase permit. . . . How will they do?
Two anglers in a Gheenoe have cool adventures and catch lovely snook in this video from Florida.
Tim Flagler of Tightline Productions documents the first fish of 2016 for his buddy, Jim Holland. . .and what a fish it is!
Check out this mellow video about an early morning trip to the fjord, where a beautiful trout takes to the air before coming to hand.
The folks from Labrador Productions put together a quick “highlight reel” from 2015’s fishing adventures, featuring the moments that defined this year.
To the dudes, in Florida, awesome adventures! I also had no idea that dub step worked in a fly-fishing video, but it did! Well done.
My fourth video. Done for the IFFFChesapeake Council’s YouTube page, no gorgeous scenery or big fish, just fly fishers telling their story. This one is Chuck and Ben Furimsky talking about The Fly Fishing Show. Part 1 of 2
