Welcome to another edition of the OrvisNews.com Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival (F5), in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing footage available. This week’s collection offers some of the most gorgeous footage we’ve ever shown. The quality of the newer cameras is definitely raising the bar for fly-fishing filmmakers. Suddenly, shots of moving water and landscape are as compelling as the fish themselves. There are quite a few stunning scenes sprinkled throughout all the videos below.
As usual, we cover quite a bit of ground, geographically speaking, with the folks in New Zealand coming in quite frequently. But there are also looks at Kamchatka, Europe (including Lithuania, which is a first), as well as the USA and Canada.

Cuba is known for its incredible inshore fly fishing, and this trailer for an upcoming film shows that off. But there’s also an interesting view of the Cuban culture, which seems frozen in time.

Two of my favorite fly-fishing things come together here: small streams and New Zealand. According to the filmmaker, they landed just two fish on this day, but it was worth it.
I want to catch a golden dorado in the worst way. Here’s a clip from “Wild on the Fly” in which they explore the waters of northern Argentina. Ignore the advertising and enjoy these amazing game fish.
Here’s another great winter fly-fishing video. It looks cold, but the winter light really makes the rainbows’ colors pop.

This is the kind of thing that could haunt an angler, but Bobby Izuta chose to memorialize it in video. The take happens right at the beginning, so be ready for it. That’s a big trout.
Eight permit in four days is a pretty remarkable record, so I don’t blame this guy for bragging a bit. I would, too. Although it’s mostly POV GoPro stuff, there are some nice underwater shots here, as well.

We’ve posted videos of fly-fishing for bass in France before, but this is the first time I’ve heard of largemouths in Italy. He’s fishing Lake Coghinas on the island of Sardinia, former site of the Olympic Hide and Seek champion.

The New Zealanders have really stepped it up a notch lately, with plenty of killer footage. This video lets you feel what it’s like to be guided by a Kiwi angler.
