Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 02.09.24

Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival! Each week, we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available and then serve them up for you to enjoy. This week, we’ve got nine great videos with a serious conservation angle. But don’t worry: there’s plenty of killer fish-catching action, as well. You’ll be transported from Iceland to New Zealand, and from Texas to Delaware. Enjoy!

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

We kick things off with a documentary about how open net salmon farms are wreaking havoc on Iceland’s pristine ecosystems.
A cool trailer for a TV show about Atlantic salmon in the Canadian Maritimes.
Mahi mahi, striped marlin, and more on the fly in Mexico.

A young man in search of cold-weather trout in Big Sky Country.
Cool drone footage of catching redfish in Texas.
A dedicated group of anglers work passionately to transform a modest trout stream into a wild trout haven after an ecological setback.
A raft trip on a spectacular wilderness river that holds some magnificent wild trout.
Australia’s Murray cod are a bucket-list species.
Humongous brook trout are the target in this episode of The New Fly Fisher.

  1. Wild trout how I envy people who get to fish for them without being annihilated by power bait fishermen. In Rhode Island we fish over stocked trout because frankly thats all we have unless of course you want to catch six inch Brook trout that don’t have a chance in hell of ever growing, once again because of over harvesting , water quality and the who cares attitude of DEM and trout unlimited.
I envy those that are blessed with great trout fishing but don’t condemn the fly fisherman who have no choice. So why doesn’t one of you do an article for us
