Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 03.08.19

Welcome to the another edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival! Each week, we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available and then serve them up for you to enjoy. To be honest, pickin’s were a bit slim this week, but we came up with some great stuff. There’s some trout, plenty of salt, and even a bit of northern pike. Destinations range from Yellowstone to Sweden and from New Zealand to Ontario.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

And don’t forget to check out the old, but awesome, Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. There are more than 1,250 great videos on the site!

We kick things off with an episode of “Notes from the Road,” from Tight Loops, in which Chase and Aimee fish in Yellowstone National Park and deal with some Westy issues.

Some sweet southern Wyoming trout action, shot in glorious light.

Rolf Nylinder has made a music video of sorts, which features some glorious footage from his fly-fishing trip to Japan.

Some killer redfish and jack hookups in this short video from Alvin Dedeaux of All Water Guides in Austin, Texas.

Check out this beautiful footage from Sweden’s Byske River.

Here’s the trailer for the next video to go live on “The New Fly Fisher” Youtube channel, tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Eastern.

Just 25 seconds of the frantic action right after a tarpon eat in The Everglades.

As far as fly-fishing car commercials go, this one is right up there for quality and scenery.

Striper season can’t come soon enough for a lot of folks in this building. Here’s some throwback video from the waters off Little Rhody.

In case you missed it earlier this week, here’s a beautiful video about Dakota, a kid who is just looking for a home, and The Mayfly Project, which mentors foster children like Dakota through fly fishing.

Finally, to celebrate International Women’s Day, here’s one of our favorite videos from the past few years. It packs an important message.

  1. Still waiting to see the Land Rover commercial where they illegally were driving into the Buffalo Fork River in Wyoming, got one truck stuck, got the second truck stuck and damaged the banks. Promoting driving through rivers leads is not a good way to sell a product although most companies seem to think so.
