Welcome to a new edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. We have a great selection this week, nineteen more videos that will take you to amazing angling destinations. The Europeans are in full-force this week.
For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look. And don’t forget to check in regularly at The Tug, the Orvis online video theater. See you next week with a fresh set of films!
We kick things off with a very short, but very well done series of scenes from a summer on the water. Some pretty little wild browns in this one.
Am I the only one who wants to be part of Hooké? They seem to have the best time, and this video from the Matane River is no exception.
Just a bit of silliness from our pal Rolf Nylinder of FrontsideFly. I think that this is a coffee commercial, but it features Rolf’s unique brand of humor.
Ronnie Goodwin is back with more cool shots, from a project he’s working on called “Big Sky.” That’s a big fish taking to the air, and the end shot is epic.
There are gorgeous little cutthroats in the high-mountain lakes of Colorado’s Fossil Ridge Wilderness, which seems a bit of Rocky Mountain’s Nirvana.
Germany doesn’t get too much play here on the F5, so I’m always glad to see cool footage. This was shot around Siegdorf, in Bavaria, home of the Traun River.
Whereas those of us in northern climes are beginning to sense the end of the fishing season coming on, those in New Zealand are in the opposite situation. Here’s a little something to get you pumped up for what’s to come.
Here’s a sweet video of a dad taking his young daughter out on her first fishing experience. Note: Please don’t criticize the parenting (eye protection, PFD, etc.) Just enjoy the video.
This South African lake is home to some serious monsters.
Lately, the Lowcountry Journal specializes in these dreamy videos, and this bit of redfish footage lives up to that description.
I love fly-fishing for pike, so I was excited to find this great pike action from Jake Forsline (a.k.a. Colorado Trout Devotee). The TBT soundtrack is a bonus.
Great stuff from RA Beattie, focused on young Timmy Yochum, who lives and fishes (and lives to fish) in Bend, Oregon.
A midsummer grab bag of warmwater species from the Bay State. Have you ever cast to fallfish?
Here’s a bit of fly-fishing goodness from Iceland, as a group of French anglers catch some stunning trout. The weather looks crappy, but the fishing was hot.
I can’t get enough of these videos shot during the salmonfly hatch. There are few things cooler than watching a big trout bust on a giant dry fly.
Sure, this is a commercial for a lodge, but it features gorgeous cinematography and some very cool fishing scenes.
Iowa is not much known as a fly-fishing destination, but this video from Dave Poyzer makes it look pretty darn good.
Here’s a short video on how not to take care of your tackle after landing a huge salmon. (Hat tip: Moldy Chum)
Green Mountain Fly Fishing Camp is a real, professional camp for kids in Vermont. This video offers a recap of the first session of this summer and shows just how fun fly fishing can be for kids who might not have the opportunity to do it where they live.

Hi Phil,
This is something a little different that is sure to wet some anglers appetites. Shot this in italy of rainbows sipping off the surface and other interactions, was there for about 4 hours!
Cheers Tom
