Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 09.13.19: Friggatriskaidekaphobia and Selenophobia Edition!
Welcome to the another edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival! Today is a spooktastic double-whammy–it’s Friday the 13th, and we’ve got a full moon–so I get to use my favorite graphic, above. Each week, we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available and then serve them up for you to enjoy. This week, we’ve got ten great fly-fishing videos that will take you from the mountains to the saltwater flats and plenty of places in between. And we’ve got a little bonus treat to celebrate the date.
For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.
And don’t forget to check out the old, but awesome, Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. There are more than 1,250 great videos on the site!
Here’s a gorgeous video about a group of cousins making their first foray into the Rockies. It’s long (17 minutes) but well worth your time.
Early fall in central Pennsylvania produces some lovely wild brown trout. Warning: it ends with a minor tragedy.
It won’t be long before the snow flies in much of the country, so here’s a look at some winter action, featuring a great dog.
If you dream of chasing ocean-going monsters, then this oughta get your blood pumping.
This episode of the MeatEater series “Das Boat” featuring Captains for Clean Water. Great fishing and a great discussion of the Sunshine State’s water problems.
How did YOU discover the passion for fly fishing?
There are big trout in the “toilet bowl.”
Our buddy Ken from Wish4Fish had a hot time in Belize. Here’s a trailer.
That would hurt . . .
Here’s a full episode of “The New Fly Fisher,” featuring three cool Ontario destinations.
Doncha just hate it when you’re chilling in the canoe in the middle of the lake and something like this happens?

I look forward to the Orvis 5F every week. It’s the highlight of my lunch hour. I couldn’t help but chuckle at about 50 seconds in the fly life video when you can clearly see that the angler missed the 2nd and 3rd guides with his line. This usually happens to me after tying a complicated three fly rig with an indicator. Keep the great videos coming!
