Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we feature a dozen productions that will take from the Andaman Sea to Swedish Lapland and from Florida to British Columbia. Don’t miss the final video, about a great angling nonprofit for kids.
For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.
And don’t forget to check out the awesome Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are more than 1,270 great videos on the site!
We kick things off with a gorgeous video from Inwaders Media about a helicopter trip into Swedish Lapland. Some of the scenic shots are breathtaking, and the fish aren’t so bad, either.
Erin Ranney made a trip to Cordova, Alaska, and produced this beautiful video about the experience. Some very cool salmon shots here.
The guides from Mavungana Flyfishing have been exploring the remote islands in the Andaman Sea, west of Myanmar and Malaysia, and they’ve found some spectacular flats.
Beautiful stuff from the Eastern Sierra Nevada, featuring local guide Eric Christensen catching some nice rainbows.
The intersection of fly fishing and art is the subject of this video from British Columbia-based Natalie Francenva about her husband, Pavel, who creates cool oil paintings.
The boys from Flats Pirate Angling have made a fun video to show how active the smaller tarpon can be year round in Charlotte Harbor.
This super cut of action from around the world in 2016 is a pretty heart-thumping stuff, courtesy of Pointer Fly Fishing.
Swedish angler Patrik Hansson calls the fishing of summer 2016 “the perfect mix of trout, arctic char and of course some grayling.”
Check out this cool Atlantic salmon action from the Côte-Nord region of eastern Quebec.
Plenty of cool shots of feeding trout–both marble and rainbow–in this video from Slovenia
Here’s a cool, old episode of the British TV show Out of Town, which ran from 1963 to 1981. Here, host Jack Hargreaves takes us fishing for trout and grayling on the River Test. It’s a cool piece of angling history.
We finish up with a great video about a nonprofit organization called Cast Hope, which uses fly fishing to positively impact kids and their mentors in Northern California. Listen to the stories these kids tell, and then consider how fly fishing could help them escape their surroundings.
Hey Phil, if you are looking for some more carp videos to share, I have come to really enjoy this guys youtube channel. Urban carp fishing in South Korea… fun stuff. (He also likes his Orvis reels ;))
