Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 10.04.13

Welcome to a new edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. We have a great selection this week, eighteen more videos that will take you to amazing angling destinations. This week, we’ve got a ton of stuff from the Rockies, as well as a little Midwest and Northeast thrown in for good measure. There’s a little salt, a little golden dorado, and some killer trout footage.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. This video from central Pennsylvania seeks to capture the magic of winter’s end on the water, followed by the joys of spring and summer. Great stuff.

As usual, the folks from HOOKÉ nailed it, this time documenting a trip to the Cascapedia River to fish for Atlantic salmon in fall.

This is long, but there’s plenty of great stuff from a saltwater trip for bonefish and tarpon in The Bahamas.

This is a cool, impressionistic video shot in a couple days on various waters around Colorado.

Apparently, 43 miles off the northern coast of Honduras lies an angler’s dream: The Bay Islands of Guanaja. I’d never heard of it before this video. But now I want to go.

The quality of this video is nothing special, but the fishing looks awesome, with big golden dorado striking streamers and launching themselves into the air.

Regular F5 viewers should know Luke Bannister pretty well by now and know what to expect from his videos: a man who loves split cane, dry flies, and wild trout.

Just big brown trout from Iceland. That’s it.

A group of lucky anglers head out to the waters of Kenya to target the mighty sailfish on a fly rod.

Watching the indicator is fun, and that is one seriously beautiful wild Maine brookie.

This one has some cool visuals, but I mostly included it for the soundtrack: Rage Against the Machine as you may never have heard it.

There’s a fair amount of conventional tackle in this video from the Alagnak River in Bristol Bay, but it captures the adventure and excitement of a guide’s life pretty well.

Skip the talky part at the beginning, and this features some beautiful scenes of stillwater trout fishing on Norway’s Turd Lake (heh).

There are no fish here, just a look at what happens on those days when there is no hatch. The best part is that both the video and the soundtrack were created by a 15-year-old.

We teased you with the trailer last month, and now you can watch the whole thing, which clocks in at just over an hour. Set this one aside for tonight or over the weekend, and then watch it in all its hi-def glory.
