Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 10.09.15

Welcome to our latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, made up of the best videos from around the world. This week, you’ve got a baker’s dozen videos, with a distinct trout focus. From opening day in New Zealand, to summer in Montana, to the salt water of Norway, these videos will have you dreaming of being up to your waist with a fly rod in hand.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

And don’t forget to check out the awesome all-new, improved Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are 875 great videos on the site!

See you next week with a fresh set of films!

We kick things off with a great video from a South Dakota spring creek, where some beautiful brown trout come to the surface to eat dry flies.

Ah, spring in New Zealand! This video was shot on a 6-day trip to mark the opening of the season and features everything you’ve come to expect from the backcountry of Kiwiland.

What to do with all the extraeneous footage left over at the end of the season? The Waist Deep Media crew uses it to make a killer edit.

In case you missed it on Wednesday, this fantastic video shot in Utah will get the fishing Jones cranked up to eleven.

The “other” New England, in New South Wales in the Land Down Under, has some fantastic freestone streams and lovely trout.

Wanna buy a ranch? I don’t think any of us will plop down the millions of dollars required, but these realtors sure know how to show off a western Colorado property!

Sharks from an SUP? That takes a certain amount of guts, I guess. Looks like a blast!

Here’s a neat Montana travelogue from Kevin Romeo, who took four days to explore the Northwestern part of the state with fly rod in hand.

During a semester abroad, Orvis-endorsed guide Drew Rothrock and his friend Will Armstrong traveled from Spain to Slovenia to hunt down some rivers, where they encountered loads of rainbows, browns, and grayling.

I love a well-done, short, self-shot video, especially one that tells a whole story in under a minute and a half.

I don’t know anything about this video, except that it features some great scenery and pretty brook trout. Maybe in Utah?

Some very pretty slo-mo action here, as a Norwegian angler casts for sea trout.

We finish up with a great, albeit long, video from Mountain Made Media, focused on their home state of Oregon. The team takes to the desert in search of wild places and wild trout.
