Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we offer a selection of fifteen videos that will take you to some of the most beautiful fishing spots on the planet. From the Swiss Alps to southern Patagonia, and from the South Pacific to British Columbia, it’s a veritable feast for the eyes. Oh yeah, and the fish ain’t bad, either.
For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.
And don’t forget to check out the awesome Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are more than 1,250 great videos on the site!
We kick things off with a great video about our pal Drew from Looknfishy and Orvis Atlanta Fishing Manager Justin Powell kayak-fishing the South Holston on a (somewhat) snowy day. Looks like a blast.
Barracuda are the badasses of the flats, and this one gets awfully aggressive right at the start of this cool video.
As far as stunning fly-fishing backdrops go, it’s pretty tough to beat the Matterhorn.
There are good reasons to dream about a fall steelhead trip to British Columbia. Most of them are in this gorgeous video.
I could watch big peacock bass hammer topwater flies all day and never get bored. Sweet action from Colombia.
The anglers from Carpe Diem are back with another great video, and this one features some beautiful trout in crystal-clear water in the Scandinavian backcountry.
One angler enjoys killer fishing for big redfish in the Mississippi Delta, even when the conditions go sour.
A little #5050onthewater, as two anglers discover beautiful water and gorgeous bull trout in British Columbia.
I love the Soca Valley of Slovenia, and this video brought back lots of great memories of my trip there a few years ago.
I think this is a teaser for an upcoming film about Kamchatka by our pals at Black Fly Eyes.
A trip out West provided Nick Minesinger with enough fodder to make a cool little video about the trout he found there.
A scouting trip to a remote island located somewhere in West Papua Indonesia was a success for those that took the up the challenge.
The visuals are pretty here, but it’s really the voice-over that expresses something important about fly fishing and community.
Argentina’s Lago Strobel is well known for its monster rainbows. This short video captures a lot of the magic that goes into a trip way down south.
Finally, here’s a great 20-minute documentary about Trout Unlimited’s Native Brook Trout Odyssey last summer, in which four passionate fly fishermen/aspiring environmentalists and one doctoral student fished across Pennsylvania to learn more about the state’s native trout.
Always enjoy the videos each week.
Does anyone know the brand of espresso maker that is being used at the very end of Carpe Diem’s Mountain Gold movie?
Thanks
Hi Rich
I would know because I’m the one who bought it 🙂
The brand is GSI Outdoors.
Brilliant little thing.
