Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival 12.14.18

Welcome to the latest edition of the Orvis News Friday Fly-Fishing Film Festival, in which we scour the Web for the best fly-fishing videos available. This week, we’ve got 16 great videos that cover a wide range of locations and species, from trout in the Rockies to barracuda in The Bahamas, and from redfish in Louisiana to pike in northern Sweden. A couple videos are really educational, so you’ll learn a few things while enjoying the eye candy.

For best results, watch all videos at full-screen and in high definition. Remember, we surf so you don’t have to. But if you do stumble upon something great that you think is worthy of inclusion in a future F5, please post it in the comments below, and we’ll take a look.

And don’t forget to check out the awesome Orvis fly-fishing video theater: The Tug. As of today, there are more than 1,250 great videos on the site!

We kick things off with some epic scenes of winter fishing near Buffalo, New York.

A typically awesome video from Dave and Amelia Jensen, in which you get to see their process for finding and catching a brown trout from a small stream. Amelia shows off some serious angling chops in this one.

Here’s a great video about chasing big redfish in the Louisiana Marsh. That fish at the end is a beastie.

Some killer topwater strikes from big pike in this teaser for an episode of Fly TV. Shot in the mountains of Northern Sweden.

Young Cam Chioffi and pals had a pretty good year on the water, it seems.

Sure, it’s an advertisement, but this video is also a glorious look at Russia’s Kola Peninsula and the huge salmon that swim there.

I dig it when videos combine fly fishing with other adventure sports. Here, Corin Smith does a bit of skiing and angling in the gorgeous mountains of Scotland.

Cool scenes from The Bahamas (specifically, Bair’s Lodge)–involving a big ‘cuda and a hungry shark–from our friends at Gink & Gasoline.

They don’t call it “Jurassic Lake” for nothing.

Here’s a cool, moody video about a rainy, overcast day on the streams of Slovenia.

You never know where the conversation is going to go when you’re sitting on the riverbank. Things might even get a bit profound.

A little under a minute of how serene, peaceful, and %$@# cold it can be when fly-fishing in winter.

Bucking tradition, the Huge Fly Fisherman has made a video mostly about how NOT to catch redfish from Mosquito Lagoon.

One of our local Southern Vermont friends shot this cool video about swinging flies for steelhead on a Lake Ontario tributary in Upstate New York.

You don’t have to speak French to be able to enjoy this cool teaser video from Iceland about the quest for big brown trout.

There are tons of tips about tactics, rigging options, and presentations for winter steelheading in this full episode of “The New Fly Fisher.”

  1. I do not know whether it’s just me or if everybody else
encountering issues with your website. It appears as
if some of the written text on your posts are running off the
screen. Can somebody else please comment and let me
know if this is happening to them too? This may be a issue with my
web browser because I’ve had this happen previously.
    Kudos
