On Monday afternoon, Henry Winkler stopped by Orvis NYC to promote his new book about fly fishing, I’ve Never Met an Idiot on the River. Henry’s a talented fellow, no doubt–writer, director, actor, shark jumper–but many an angler is scratching his head with uncertainty about the title of Winkler’s book. Who hasn’t met an idiot on the river?
Well if the Fonz is the coolest, then Henry is the sweetest, most sincere guy you’d ever want to meet. At Orvis, Henry presented some photos that better explain the book, which is best defined by its subtitle: Reflections on Family, Photography, and Fly-fishing.
For two hours, Henry signed books, spoke to fans, and talked about fly fishing and what it has taught him. Kind, open, and genuine, Henry looked you in the eye, listened to your fishing tales, and gave you a true feeling that, when he told you it was a pleasure to meet you, he meant it. Whether you’re a fan of his acting or the characters he plays, Henry proved that he’s the definitely type of person you’d want to meet on the river.
