The latest issue of This Is Fly is chock-full of great, thoughtful features–which is not, necessarily, something we always expect from an online fly-fishing magazine. Sure, there are all the great photography, art, and product coverage you may be accustomed to, but I can’t remember an issue that has this much fascinating stuff to read.
The cover boy is my friend Bryan Gregson, and inside is a cool profile of someone who has built a remarkable career as a fly-fishing photographer. I hung out with Bryan in Belize a few years ago and found him to be both passionate and down-to-earth, and his spectacular images reflect these traits. Another pal, Dr. Aaron Adams of Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, writes about the impacts of Hurricane Irma on the fisheries of the Florida Keys and the Everglades, and his insights will make you think about how important it is that we protect these fragile habitats.
Don’t worry: there’s plenty of ink about actual fishing, too–from trout on Argentina’s Limay River to marble trout in Slovenia to a variety of species in and around Los Angeles.
