Orvis Travel Department Manager
The Department Manager of Orvis Travel is responsible for the business channel, providing the vision and direction for its successful growth in the field of outdoor travel, including fly fishing, hunting, and adventure eco-tourism. The focus is strategic, with a view to long term growth and investment but with oversight of tactical day-to-day issues handled by the Travel team. The General Manager is accountable for the management and execution of sales, customer service, marketing, merchandising, product development, and budgeting for the department.

The Orvis Retail Fishing Manager is a retail professional role model in attitude and appearance who drives sales and profit growth by providing a world-class shopping experience to all Orvis customers. The Fishing Manager assists the Store Manager in all management duties of the retail store, completes assignments delegated by the Store Manager, and is responsible for the daily operations of the fly-fishing department including coaching and training other store associates to be confident in selling fishing and outdoor products.
We are looking for managers who can establish, maintain, and promote Sporting Tradition activities that enhance our reputation in the marketplace as well as introduce new customers to this lifestyle through fly-fishing schools, casting clinics, and seminars. The successful Fishing Manager has experience developing relationships with local fly-fishing organizations, conservation groups, Orvis Endorsed Operations, and other partners that can increase customer traffic and the use of Orvis products.
Orvis Gun Department Manager
The Gun Department Manager is tasked with providing all potential gun buyers, service customers, or Store/Pro Shop patrons with an industry-best customer service experience. The Gun Department Manager should have a fluent understanding of fine guns, gun values, wingshooting, and shooting industry trends. This person must strive to create a markedly positive experience for customers from initial contact, and instill in customers a strong sense of personal care and clear communication. This person must have excellent interpersonal skills whether in-person, on phone, or via email. He or she must be well organized, and must maintain an impeccable work ethic. The Gun Department Manager should be a driven, trustworthy, and personable salesperson who is committed to cultivating an experience synonymous with the Orvis brand. The overarching goal of the Gun Department Manager should be to make lifelong customers through each customer contact.
how on earth is there no orvis store in SLC or PC utah?! when you are ready to open, keep me in mind!
There was one in Murray about 10 years ago. I bought some Pro Guides there which I just retired for some Sonic Guides. It wasn’t the best location at 57th/State as the area was going downhill mall failing. Who knows maybe they’ll try again some day?
