That’s a healthy rainbow trout from a country not known for its fly-fishing culture.

At the end of last summer, we posted about fly fishing in the mountains of Iran. This morning, our new Persian friend, Naser Derakhshan of Fly Fishing Club Shahrekord, sent us the above photo of a glorious rainbow trout from a tributary of the Karun River, one of the largest rivers in Iran.
The Karun flows out of the Zagros Mountains of western Iran.
