Apart from its massive proportions, that brown is also simply gorgeous and obviously healthy.

John Herzer, from Blackfoot River Outfitters in Missoula, Montana, sent us this great photo, along with an explanatory note:
Thought you might want to see this. The angler is one of our longtime guides, Sean Largay, from Missoula. He caught this 10-pound behemoth while sight-fishing in New Zealand. (It was one of just three fish spotted that day.) The fish ate a well placed, size 12 Blue Humpy—resembles the blow flies there?— in heavy wind. Sean was casting a 15-foot, 4X leader with my Orvis H2 9’6″ 6-weight, which I had lent him for the trip (the next best thing to being there?). Sean said that, given the winds, this was his “go to” stick for the trip.
Beautiful fish.
I would love the opportunity to travel to New Zealand and catch one just like that. NICE Fish!
What a beautiful brown trout. New Zealand is definitely on my bucket list!
