Getting the permit to the boat first was a great kickoff to a memorable day.

Australian reader Tom Gordon sent in the three pictures that capture his recent Belize saltwater Grand Slam, along with a note:
Wind has been blowing a gale all week, but we decided to roll the dice and go out today in 20 knots and plenty of wind chop. It paid off with a beautiful permit in the morning, a bonefish around lunch, and after losing a tarpon at my feet, I managed a little fella in the afternoon. . . .I can die a happy man.
I have been travelling for a year with my girlfriend—through the UK, Europe, and North and Central America—using just orvis rods. Your customer service has been astounding: I had to swap/upgrade a few of my rods in Central America, and you guys were fantastic!

The bonefish came to hand at lunchtime, leaving all afternoon for number three.

Sure that’s a tiny tarpon, but it was the huge finish to a Grand Slam.
I’m going to Belize this Summer. I sure do wish my trip would turn out like this.
Nice grand slam – it may be a little tarpon, but it’s bigger than the one I’ve never caught!
