Orvis CEO Perk Perkins recently embarked on a week-long backpacking trip into the Wind River Range of Wyoming with his wife, Laurie, and their Black Lab, Chico. Perk’s goal was to catch his first golden trout, and he certainly succeeded. They took to the trail outside the town of Dubois, guided by George Hunker of Sweetwater Fishing Expeditions.

Perk scans the water for fish, while Chico waits patiently.

The gorgeous, wild golden trout were worth the long hikes above 9,000 feet.

  1. Thats too cool…the brass going out in the backcountry. No pressure on the guide/outfitters…just the CEO of Orvis…no biggie…

  2. We stayed in Dubois, WY on the way to Big Sky, MT out of Denver. What a beautiful place. Can’t wait to go back stay for a while. It was so exciting crossing over to the see the Tetons from this wonderful town!

  3. Congrats with checking off the golden from the bucket list. They are beautiful fish and it doesn’t hurt that they are usually found in some of the most beautiful settings!
