A friend told Chuck about his secret spot, which yielded this beautiful rainbow, one of three on the day.

Blog reader Chuck—who hails from Shelburne, Massachusetts—sent in these four photos of great fish he caught recently on the Deerfield River, a tailwater in the northwestern part of the Bay State. The number of different flies used suggests that there’s some varied bug life in the river.

This brown was super picky, but it eventually fell for a size 14 White Wulff.

A size 12 Tan Elk-Hair Caddis was the pattern of choice for this fine rainbow.

This fish was rising, but it ignored all of Chuck’s flies until he put on this size 14 Cream Cahill.
Great to see Western MA on the blog!! The Deerfield is an awesome river. Great pics!!
