The new Helios 2 one-piece rods are starting to make their way out on the water more and more, and the reviews have been nothing short of spectacular. Capt. Bryan Robinson—who guides for redfish, seatrout, and tarpon on the Lower Laguna Madre of deep south Texas—sent in these photos, along with his impressions of his new big-game stick:

I had a chance a few days ago to go out and break in the new one-piece Helios 2 8-weight. Y’all got it dialed in just right: Very light in the had and had no trouble handling a 15mph South Texas wind. Plenty of backbone, too.

Spring on the Laguna Madre is “breezy,” so you need a rod that can cut through the wind.

  1. I hope I win the giveaway contest. I fish the Lower Laguna Madre as well and would love to land a Lone Star Red with a Helios 2!!!
