Photos: Testing the Waters—and the Drone—in SWPA

The Laurel Highlands are Nirvana for anglers who love mountain streams.

Reader Vincent Piasecke continues to explore the rivers and streams of southwestern Pennsylvania with his Superfine Glass 7-1/2 foot 3-weight paired with a Battenkill Disc reel. He sent in these cool shots from a recent outing for a video project he’s working on. Here’s what he had to say about them:

My buddy, Matt Guess, and I are working on a video with a lot of aerial footage on the Youghiogheny River near the town of Ohiopyle, which is located in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania. The browns were caught in a stream a few miles outside of town.

This beautiful little wild brown fell for a nymph drifted through a mountain pool.

The drone offers a cool perspective on casting.

A chilly, wet day feels considerably warmer when you bring a trout to hand.

There are plenty of likely holding spots in this pool.
