Podcast: Doc Thompson and High-Altitude Trout Fishing

In this episode, I interview Doc Thompson, legendary New Mexico fly-fishing guide and an all-around great guy. Doc shares tips for finding and catching high-altitude trout in small streams. In the Fly Box, we range from foul-hooking fish to tying small flies to hooking and holding trout on tiny flies to guide etiquette to casting big streamers. And we’ve started a new feature where we talk about a couple of the red-hot fishing spots for this week.

  1. Thanks Tom for all of your hard work in making the pod casts! I learn something new every time and appreciate all that you and the Orvis company do for fly fishing!

  2. Your podcasts are always great Tom. I had no idea that New Mexico offered such opportunities to fish high altitude streams. Your guests, like Doc, are always the most informative in their field.

  3. Loved the podcast … great info. While I was listening I bought a starter outfit online and next week I am going to Angelfire to look at a condo. Fishing and skiing….. doesn’t get any better than that.

    Thank you,
    Darrell
