Pro Tips: Twitching Flies in Winter

When it comes to winter fishing, most anglers focus on dead-drifting nymphs right along the bottom, often with a Euro-nymphing setup. In this short video, Joe Rotter from Red’s Fly Shop demonstrates how effect it can be to switch things up. Using a small, heavy crayfish pattern, he twitches the fly along the bottom, drawing strikes from some nice rainbows. This method can also be used with stonefly nymphs, small sculpins, and other imitations of creatures that move along the bottom.
