Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 04.24.14

Welcome to another edition of our trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love.

This week, we’ve got ten questions on a variety of subjects—from famous streamer patterns to American tailwaters to bamboo-rod builders—taken from a quiz first posted last year. This is a chance to see how much you remember or how much you have learned. We will have an all-new quiz next week!

The scores on the last week’s Trivia Challenge about fly casting represented a shocking slide from the previous week. We wnt from, with 65 100%s—a new record—on March 20 to just a single perfect score on March 27. Congratulations to Joe Grazioli! Two other quiz-takers, BugBoss and T. Haught, missed just one question.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a copy of Great Fishing Lodges of North America by Paul Fersen, a gorgeous coffee-table book. The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Sagechkn, whose score strangely included a decimal place.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win a cool book.

Good luck!

  1. 50% epic fail, and my lowest score ever.
Regardless, we all like the trivia challenge…… so THANKS Phil.
(Q8: Detlef Shrempf sold me a stack of bogus Wes Jordan rods many years ago.)

  2. 60 big fat percent. I failed… or is that a D minus? Either way, I’m going fishing tomorrow as a reward.
