Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 09.27.18

Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a classic 20 questions on famous American fly-fishing rivers.

The last quiz was apparently quite difficult, as there were no perfect scores. However, five people scored 90%, and the most common score held steady at 60%.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of George Daniel’s great new book Nymph Fishing: New Angles, Tactics, and Techniques, from Stackpole Books. Daniel covers specialized equipment, flies, and presentations, focusing on advanced lessons and tips for anglers with a solid grasp of fundamentals.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of an autographed copy of Ed Engle’s wonderful book Tying Small Flies, from Stackpole Books, is Bob Matuzak, whose score was disappointing, even to him.

So post your score below (or below the post on our Facebook page!) for a chance to win a great book.

Good luck!

    This is a trick question.
Q.19 In which state would you fish the Androscoggin River for smallmouth bass?
    New Hampshire
    Oregon
    Idaho
    Maine

    1. I was thinking that too, but I guess the NH stretch of the Androscoggin is more trout water and the bass water isn’t until you get down in to Maine.

  2. Only 30%! Not bad I guess considering I am out of the driftless with very limited knowledge. Good to know I still have a lot of material to learn

  3. 50%

Looks like the “Michigan” that should have been in number 7 slipped down to number 12, where Michigan was the wrong answer twice!
