Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 12.12.13

Welcome to another edition of our trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This one’s a classic, featuring 10 questions that range from famous fly tiers to carp anatomy to trout species.

The last quiz was a doozy, apparently, for there was just one perfect score. And guess who it was: Tom Rosenbauer hisself!

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a signed copy of Tom’s book The Orvis Guide to Small Stream Fly Fishing. The last book winner (as determined by random.org) was Glenn S., who scored a very respectable 80%.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win Tom’s book with his inspirational words on the title page.

Good luck!

  1. 60% I hate to be a stick in the mud but the brownbow was created in the lab, was a sterile hybrid, and is an impossibility in nature so I’m hesitant to accept the “true” answer but its interesting nonetheless.

  2. 60%. Better than the last few weeks, but a brownbow? Hard to believe since one spawns in the fall and the other in the spring…

  3. 50% half full. Maclean also wrote Logging and pimping and “your pal Jim” as well as USFS 1919: The Ranger, The Cook, and a hole in the sky?
