Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a classic set of questions about such topics as famous rapids, angling quotations, fly identification, and more.
The last quiz was a moderately hard, producing three perfect scores, well-earned by Roger, Capt. Skip Persson, and Alan Burrows. There was a smattering of 90s and 80s, but most scores were considerably lower, and the most popular score dropped one notch to a troubling 40%.
The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of Kip Vieth’s wonderful new book, The Orvis Guide to Muskies on the Fly. This is an essential primer on fly-fishing for muskies, addressing every requirement of the sport and providing an excellent foundation for years of pleasurable fishing. It includes instructions for tackle selection; casting and presentation; flies; essential knots and how to tie them; successful techniques on rivers and lakes; and much more. Click here to read an excerpt.
The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org)–who will receive Vieth’s book–is Joe Dunmire, whose comment, “Tried to out think myself,” suggests that he’s not all that pleased about it.
