Take a NEW Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 02.13.20

Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got 10 fresh-from-the-water questions about river tributaries, native species, fish hybridization, and more.

The last quiz was another toughie that would be graded on a curve were this a college survey course. However, there was one perfect score. Many kudos to ChrisinVA, whom you should all look up to. He was also the very first person to post a score! The most common score held steady at a less-than-optimal 50%.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a two-pack of Orvis Mirage Trout Leaders in the size of their choice. Pure fluorocarbon Mirage has the highest abrasion resistance of any leader or tippet, and is virtually invisible to fish. Mirage fluoro leaders should be your go-to for spring creeks, still water, large streamers, or fishing nymphs in clear water.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org)–who will receive volumes I and II of “Flies that Catch Fish” DVDs by Bob Wyatt–is Dave Tooke, whose score was well above average.

So post your score below (or below the post on our Facebook page!) for a chance to win a great video.

Good luck!

  1. The total difference between last weeks 20% and this weeks 90%, is simply better guessing.
Believe me,it has nothing to do with knowledge about the topics presented.

  2. I took the quiz twice and didn’t do much better the second time, 50 to 60%. Shows how effective testing can be sometimes, haha! Thanks for a challenging test. Learned about bonefish rays, thanks!
