Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 01.09.14

Welcome to another edition of our trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This one’s a new quiz with the same topic as last week, featuring 20 questions on famous fly-fishing waters in the United States. Of course, there may be other waters with the same names elsewhere, so please choose the most famous one for fly fishers.

The last quiz stumped quite a few folks, and there were just three perfect scores. Congrats to Nycflyangler, Ron Urban, and Zedd (who scored a 95% but successfully appealed his one “incorrect” answer). On the other hand, nine respondents missed perfection by a single question.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a super-cool, not-yet-available Helios 2 Buff. (See below.) The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was John Zimmer, who was one of those almost-but-not-quite scores.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win a cool Buff.

Good luck!

  1. 25%

BTW, question #13 is a trick question for those of us in the Southwest. There’s more than one Guadalupe in these parts.

      1. Possibly, I don’t know that one. But I do know that’s the name of one of the best trout rivers in North-Central New Mexico.

  2. 45 %.
Q.9 The St. Croix is the border for Minnesota and Wisconsin for most of its route, otherwise its headwaters is only in Wisconsin. I think both Wisonsin and Minnesota answers are correct. Still, my score still sucks.

  3. 45% made some educated and not so educated guesses. Definitely need to fish West of the Mississippi some more.

  4. 60% but you need to have a look at the name of the river that runs straight through the middle of DFW west to east. Can’t believe I missed the Selway… Cheers.

  5. 40%. I got tricked by the Trinity River being in Texas. Should of realized it’s not a trout stream since I live in Texas. The Guadalupe is, though.

  6. I PROTEST !!! The St Croix river is in BOTH Minnesota AND Wisconsin, trick question and I was marked wrong saying Wisconsin.
