Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 01.28.21

Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a set of all-new questions about such topics as fishing musicians, famous East Coast rivers, historic catches, and fly names.

The last quiz was an improvement, with three perfect scores. Standing ovation for Capt. Skip PerssonBill Gunn, and Al! There were five 90%-ers and an impressive fourteen 80% scorers. The most popular score jumped up one notch to 50%.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of Kip Vieth’s wonderful new book, The Orvis Guide to Muskies on the Fly. This is an essential primer on fly-fishing for muskies, addressing every requirement of the sport and providing an excellent foundation for years of pleasurable fishing. It includes instructions for tackle selection; casting and presentation; flies; essential knots and how to tie them; successful techniques on rivers and lakes; and much more. Click here to read an excerpt.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org)–who will receive Vieth’s book–is Bill Love, who missed just two questions, which he attributes to “a couple lucky guesses; a couple unlucky.”

Post your score below (or below the post on our Facebook page!) for a chance to win a great video.

Good luck!

  1. 80%. but, I protest #9. I think you misspelled Zach Brown. I think you are referring to Zac Brown. And I found that misleading!

  2. 60%…not very good.

Hey Phil, I won one of these late last year, but never got contacted. Can you help me out? Thanks

  3. 50% – I fell from the glory of an 80% score, being quoted by Professor Phil, and even winning the Muskie fly fishing book. Humbled, shameful and embarrassed describes my feelings.

  4. 70% (without the curve!). Thought Captain Beefheart was another one of your obviously not choices.
