Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 03.12.15

Welcome to another edition of our trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. Here’s the final installment of our Match the River to the State series, with 20 all-new questions.

Warning: For each question, there is a best answer; just because there is another river with the same name somewhere else doesn’t mean it’s the correct answer. We are looking only for rivers famous for their fly fishing opportunities.

The scores on the last quiz were up a notch from the previous, with five perfect scores. Let’s have a round of applause for Bradley Meyer, Rick Bayley, and Michael, with a full-on standing ovation for winston and Doug Lyons, who each scored 100% for the second week in a row! There were seven 95% scores, ten 90% scores, and the most common score was again right at 50%.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a year’s subscription to Catch Magazine. Our last winner (as determined by random.org) was Bradley Meyer, one of our perfect-score heroes.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win!

Good luck!

  1. 100%, naturally. But don’t bother fishing any of these rivers because I’ve already fished them out.

  2. 80% Best I have done in a long time. Sure helps to be lucky! Oh, did I tell you I won a handcrafted bamboo fly rod at our 89er TU Chapter Fund Raiser banquet last Saturday! I guess my luck is still holding!!

  3. The Niobrara River is tricky because you put both Wyoming and Nebraska in there and it is in both states but the National scenic river part is in Nebraska. A coin toss I guess. Anyway 100%

Is this the Louis Coleman that Tom Rosenbauer interviewed on his April 1st podcast?

  5. Lets just say that the first one of these put me in the basement, last week Phil handed me a shovel, today I dug. 10%
