Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 05.15.14

Written by: Phil Monahan

Welcome to another edition of our fly-fishing trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, ten more brand new questions on a variety of subjects—from John Gierach books to insect ID—will tax your brainpower.

The scores on the last week’s Trivia Challenge bounced back from very poor to pretty darned good, with seven perfect scores. Congratulations to Nate, Paul P, Steve Reckner, Frank Wood, Dave Driscoll, Bill Callan, and Tim!

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a copy of Great Fishing Lodges of North America by Paul Fersen, a gorgeous coffee-table book. The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Dierks, who checked in with a score that we used to call a “gentleman’s C.”

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win a cool book.

Good luck!

Have you read many of this guy’s books?

70%. Missed the two guesses I made and forgot that the Colorado is the border between AZ/NV and AZ/CA.

80 percent. Two weeks with decent scores means the rug gets pulled from under me next time. I’ll enjoy my quick hubris break now, while I can.

50%. Here’s a question – what state has the source and mouth of the Colorado River within its boundaries? There is more than one Colorado River in the US.
