Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 05.22.14

Welcome to another edition of our fly-fishing trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got ten more questions covering a variety of subjects—from Tom’s books to a famous author’s biography—that will tax your intellect.

The scores on last week’s Trivia Challenge represented a slight drop, with four perfect scores. Congratulations to Dennis Durham, Laurence Friedman, Ryan P., and Reid Pearlman!

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a copy of Great Fishing Lodges of North America by Paul Fersen, a gorgeous coffee-table book. The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Adam B., whose score was nothing to write home about.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win a cool book.

Good luck!

  1. 70%, but I’m going to give myself partial credit for “do nothing and let the fish hook itself.” D+

  2. 80%
(As to Tom’s books: I’ve nearly memorized “Prospecting for Trout” and “Reading Trout Streams”.)

  3. 70% but I strip streamers a bunch for both warmwater and trout and have found an actual hookset just works better for me. I really just don’t care for strip sets whatsoever but to each their own.

  4. “You scored 80%!”
No one can be more shocked than I am. Fortunately I was unencumbered by the thought process.

  5. Has anyone else noticed that sometimes you answer one way and it then says you answered a different answer. It still would not have helped my 50% today much.
