Take an All New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 10.24.13

Welcome to another edition of our trivia challenge, where we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This one’s got 10 new questions, dealing with everything from fly-rod anatomy to fishing records to and types of nymphs.

The last quiz was quite a stumper, for there was just one 100% score. Congrats to Gaston Novillo. Nine other people missed perfection by just one question, so there were actually plenty of high scores.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a signed copy of Tom’s book The Orvis Guide to Prospecting for Trout. This is the book you need for those times when there is no specific hatch on. Last week’s book winner (as determined by random.org) was Doug T, whose score was below passing but who gets the prize nonetheless.

So, take this week’s quiz, and no matter how well or poorly you do, post your score in the comments below to be eligible to win Tom’s book with his inspirational words on the title page.

Good luck!

  1. You scored 70%! I think I learned about the Marquesas Keys from one of the Friday Film Festival videos.

    1. I guess you know as much about the cardinals as you know about this quiz! 😉
Cardinals are gonna come back strong, just wait and see!

  2. At 40% there is obviously a lot about fly fishing that still have to learn. That is what I love bout this sport.

  3. Best score yet! 90%. Got the wiggle cast wrong. I knew it was a slack line cast but I thought its purpose was to cast across competing currents but I suppose its first and foremost a slack line cast (adding slack to the presentation). Great quiz!
