Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 12.20.18

Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got 10 brand-new questions about fly-casting books, famous float trips, fish species, and lots more!

The last quiz showed a huge oimprovement over the previous one, with five people scoring 100%. Give it up for Steve Root, Jack, Roger, Carl, and Joe Xumphonphakdy. (Also on the list was shoo-fly, but he admitted to using Wikipedia.) A remarkable 10 people missed just a single question, and the most common score bumped up one spot to 60%.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive Tom Rosenbauer’s great book The Orvis Guide to Hatch Strategies: Successful Fly Fishing for Trout Without Always Matching the Hatch, from Universe Publishing. Instead of focusing on insect identification, in this book Tom stresses learning how to approach trout, how to find where they feed, and how to present the fly so it is accepted as natural food.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of Tom’s book, is Jon R, whose score was a solid B.

So post your score below (or below the post on our Facebook page!) for a chance to win a great book.

Good luck!

  1. I’m stoked! Time after time I’ve posted a solid 40% (not even in the meaty part of the bell-shaped curve). Today 90%!
