Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 02.25.16

Welcome to another edition of our (kind of) weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a classic that covers everything from Midwestern rivers to rare trout..

On the last quiz, there were six perfect scores, a 50% increase from the previous quiz. All hail John Napier, Ken H, Glenn Whittington, Dave B, Scott Sandlin, and Chad. A baker’s dozen readers scored 90%, and the most common score continued to be 50%.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive a cool collection of stickers for the car, boat, guitar case, etc. The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Glen, who argued “I fish saltwater, so most of it was guesses anyway. That’s my excuse anyway. . . .”

So post your score below for a chance at some great stickers.

Good luck!

  1. I got 70. I messed up and clicked the wrong answer for one, but the other two i missed were simply guesses…not too bad for just getting started. : )

  2. 60% this week, still lousy but better than the 50s I’ve been getting. I had to guess 6 and only guessed right twice.

  3. A Treatyse of Fysshynge wyth an Angle – 1496

No mention of casting a fly? Admittedly I haven’t read it but you’d think it would be in there. So then it was Walton that first mentioned it? Damn man that’s tough!

  4. 60%. I take issue with the first question. I thought the AP in AP Nymph stood for All Purpose. But, I’m good with this score.
