Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 04.27.17

Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a classic quiz that touches on a variety of topics, such as flies, native species, and who taught the world’s most famous female angler how to fish.

The last quiz was clearly an easy one, as there were an astonishing 12 perfect scores. Here’s the roll-call of honor: Brian T., Jaybaldi Q. Glinkerspeal, Stephen Fitch, Jerry Plaaten, Dave F., Tom S, DenverDan, Will Shaw, Bradw, Don Boyer, Kurt, and Luke H. Another 19 of you came up juuuust shy of perfect. The most common score was a 70%, and the most missed question tested your knowledge of what a caudal peduncle is–only 33% of you passed. Hilariously, the answers to the question of which Rajeff brother is older were split right down the middle. (It’s Steve.)

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive an a copy of Tom Rosenbauer’s brand new, completely revised Orvis Fly-Fishing Guide. I edited this book, so I can assure you that it’s fabulous.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of this wonderful tome was Ryan, whose score makes him a gentleman.

So post your score below for a chance to win a video that will help you become a better nymph fisherman.

Good luck!

  1. 80% Should have known since this was the Orvis quiz it would have been Manchester not Freeport.

  2. 80%, missed my one guess about 11 mile canyon and was just plain wrong about the fly fishing school.
