Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 05.19.16

Welcome to another edition of our sorta-kinda-weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This weeks, we’ve got a classic, featuring questions about fly-tying materials, geography, and angling heroes.

On the last quiz, there were four perfect scores, two fewer than on the previous quiz. Pay homage Doug (who had the gall to comment “Too easy”), MikeC, Peter D, and Miles. Ten of you came in with a 90%. The most common score fell to a 50%.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive his or her choice of an Orvis Fly Selection, featuring patterns chosen by Orvis-endorsed professional guides. The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Darren, who scored a most-common 70%.

So post your score below for a chance at some great stickers.

Good luck!

  1. 90 percent. Have also read to keep head downstream to keep feet from getting locked under large boulders and getting dragged under. Don’t wade deeper than knees when you get old..

  2. 80%. One bad guess & a little confused about #3 wording related to facing down river obstacles.

  3. 90% my best. More reading under the belt… Thanks for the challenge. Missed the bustard question.

  4. 80%. I’ll take it. I just don’t know my Western rivers ( and dams, and canyons) very well.
