Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 12.08.16

Welcome to another edition of our mostly weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. Here’s a classic quiz, featuring 10 questions covering subjects from geography to entomology to angling literature.

Our last quiz was harder than average, and there was just a single perfect score, achieved by Matthew Makarewicz, who deserves a slow clap for his efforts. Seven people missed perfection by just a single question, and the most popular score fell to 50. It seems that most people weren’t aware that Ray Bergman was the longtime fishing columnist for Outdoor Life.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of Bob Mallard’s 25 Best Towns Fly Fishing for Trout. It might become a vacation planner, if the rest of your family agrees.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of Paul Weamer’s The Bug Book: A Fly Fisher’s Guide to Trout Stream Insects, was Morgan Nowels, whose score was the most common one, but he still gets a prize.

So post your score below for a chance to win Mallard’s useful book.

Good luck!

  1. 50%, and for the record I’d love to hear Les Claypool come up with music for a fly fishing video. Primus sucks.
