Take a Classic Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 01.25.18

Welcome to another edition of our weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, we’ve got a classic, which will see what you know about native trout, famous rod builders, flies, and history.

Performance on last quiz was a great leap forward, as eight people achieved perfection. Let’s hear it for Winston, Erik, Mark P, shoo-fly, David, Mike, Bob T, and fausto. A further fourteen respondents scored 90%, and the most common score fell a bit from the previous week, to 70%.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of Ed Engle’s Fishing Small Flies, from Stackpole Books. Using tiny patterns that are tough to see can be a trial, and hooking trout with those itty-bitty hooks can be challenging, as well. Engle, a longtime guide in Colorado, is full of great ideas to help.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of a copy of Dave Karczynski’s Smallmouth: Modern Fly-Fishing Methods, Tactics, and Techniques, was wayne n, whose score was well off the pace. But he still wins!

So post your score below for a chance to win a great book. And we finally got the answer key back, so you can know exactly what you missed and why.

Good luck!
