Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 07.21.16

Welcome to another edition of our weekly-ish trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. This week, it’s a new quiz that features questions about river terminology, tying-material history, and angling tactics.

On the last quiz, there were a whopping twelve perfect scores, which is impressive. Because it was the first time for many of them, I want to make sure to list them all: Kevin E, Steve, Peter D, Jim Buttitta, Al Cravinho, Dave L, Amy Glidden, RDC, Dave Driscoll, Mikael Permann, Eric J, and HW Josh Burns. A remarkable 37 of you missed by just a single question; as one responder put it, he got “flymphed.” 90% was, in fact, the most common score. I don’t think that that has ever happened before.

The randomly chosen winner of this week’s quiz will receive his or her choice of an Orvis Fly Selection, featuring patterns chosen by Orvis-endorsed professional guides.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org) was Austin, who was a bit behind the curve.

So post your score below for a chance at this awesome prize.

Good luck!

  1. 40% ugh! Going in the wrong direction because I yielded to second guessing which we all know is the bad choice.

  2. 60% – Not bad for a Friday. Buhl??? Yea… go figure. I missed that one. And now I want some mahi mahi for lunch.
