Take an All-New Phil Monahan Fly-Fishing Trivia Challenge 12.01.16

Welcome to another edition of our mostly weekly trivia challenge, in which we test your knowledge of all things fly fishing and where you might learn a thing or two about this sport we love. After a few weeks off, we are back with ten new questions to make you scratch your head.

Our last quiz clearly wasn’t as easy as the previous one, but there were still seven perfect scores. A tip of the cap to Winston, Jon B, Alexander Solon, Marble trout, Mark, Stephen Fitch, and Levent H. There were fifteen folks who missed perfection by just a single score, and the most popular score was 70, which is pretty darned good.

The winner of this week’s random drawing will receive a copy of Paul Weamer’s The Bug Book: A Fly Fisher’s Guide to Trout Stream Insects. I shouldn’t have to explain why this could be a very useful read.

The winner of our last quiz (as determined by random.org), and recipient of a Tacky Collab Deluxe Fly Box, was one of our longtime readers, Dave Rossett, who was one of the 90-percenters.

So post your score below for a chance to win this amazing fly box.

Good luck!

  1. 80%! Not too shabby for guessing on a few. The year the modern fly line was created definitely threw me off.

  2. Whoa…. 50%! Good grief!

All is well here in Bozeman, Montana boys and girls! Fresh snow on the ground and boy did we need it! Many of you fish in the waters that are in, or come from, Montana, and many of you depend on this snow for your drinking water, etc., downstream from here to Louisiana. Please pray for snow so we don’t have as many hoot-owl closures next year, cooler water, and hopefully enough to avoid another PKD outbreak (like that on the Yellowstone this last summer). Take care everybody and have a great weekend!
