Here’s the Latest video in Orvis casting instructor Pete Kutzer’s series on getting started in fly fishing. Every fly caster wants to be able to cast farther, but many struggle with the double haul. Here, Pete explains how you can throw more line without hauling. Instead, know your fly line, so you can optimize your pickup for the backcast. Then, make sure that backcast features a nice, tight loop. Experiment with your line and rod set up, and you’ll fine that you can add distance by following Pete’s instructions.

Thanks Pete and Orvis. That is a good idea to get back to basics. I’ll give it a try!
Thanks Pete !
Your video on making a long cast was refreshing and helpful.
