Here are a couple of quick-and-dirty videos, from the
Fly Fishing Knots page on the
Orvis Fly Fishing Learning Center, that explain how to make a loop at the end of a piece of monofilament or fluorocarbon, for when you need to create a loop-to-loop connectionfor instance, when you want to attach a leader to a fly line. These videos feature the hands and mellifluous voice of Steve Hemkens, head of Orvis Rod & Tackle.
The double surgeon’s loop is certainly the easier of the two, but I’m a fan of the perfection loop, which is more elegant and symmetrical. Both work great and are quick to tie on the water. Which is your favorite?
